On Fire Dance, Omar Faruk Tekbilek sets his musical sights beyond the borders of his native Turkey, using a mix of traditional and modern instrumentation and inspiration from North Africa, Egypt and other Arabic sources.

From the opening sound of Omar Faruk's enchanted ney (flute), lifted by the Saharan wind, a flourish of goat bells ringing in the distance, to the final, uplifting rhythms of "Halay", Omar Faruk and longtime collaborator Brian Keane offer a luscious suite of songs embracing many moods: energetic, meditative, mystical and joyous. Imbued with grace, Fire Dance is a an adventure of transformation from which there is no turning back.
